US natural gas sets records while height of summer still to come

July 15, 2015 (7:44 mins)

July has already yielded records in the US natural gas landscape: the spot price at the Algonquin city-gates at its lowest in more than a decade on July 2, and July 14 was the year-to-date max for power burn. Platts market team members Curt Mrowiec and Chris Pedersen are joined by Eric Brooks, energy analyst for Bentek Energy, to detail the cash and forwards prices for gas, examine how things have changed in the Pacific Northwest, as well as look at the rest of the month and where things could go.

The following Platts assessments were discussed in this podcast:
Price Date
Algonquin city-gates daily assessment $1.900/MMBtu 07/14/2015
SoCal Gas prompt month assessment 10.80 /MMBtu 07/14/2015
