European battery storage thriving in tough conditions

Recent weeks have seen a number of ever-larger battery storage projects opening across northwest Europe, this despite an uncertain outlook for earnings. These first-mover projects are seeking a variety of revenue streams, from primary reserve and frequency regulation grid services to day-ahead and intraday earnings in wholesale markets and, in future, the electric vehicle recharge market. In this video, S&P Global Platts European power editors Andreas Franke and Henry Edwardes-Evans discuss the proliferation of storage business models emerging as developers search for viability.
